San Francisco

On the last leg of our trip we went to San Francisco. Some of the highlights of the first day were riding on a subway, under the water, from Oakdale into the city, riding the cable cars, visiting Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli Square and taking in the beautiful scenery.

The second day we rented bikes. Actually daddy had to pull me behind his bike but I had a nice ride. As part of our ride we stopped at the Exploratorium, a science museum with all sorts of hands-on exhibits. Don't worry, that toilet had never been used! Then we rode across the Golden Gate Bridge. Those views were amazing! The trail led us into Sausalito where we boarded a ferry that took us back to Pier 39. The perfect ending to a perfect trip.

San Francisco Locals

I just wanted to share some of the local flair we came across during our visit to San Francisco. Great people (and Sea Lion) watching!

Yosemite National Park

The next stop on our trip was Yosemite National Park. Just when you think you've seen something truly amazing you turn the corner to see something more spectacular. Again, the pictures don't do the beauty any justice!! There has been some flooding in the valley this year due to high snowfall. The upside was the waterfalls were flowing at amazing speeds and depths. We actually hiked up to the middle of one where there was a bridge. We walked over the falls and got wet from all of the mist coming up from underneath.

As luck would have it, we saw our second bear this day. We saw it just as a Junior Park Ranger group did. Because I saw the bear and was part of that adventure I became an official Yosemite Junior Ranger, took an oath on the spot and got my badge. It was all very exciting. The Ranger said as long as she'd taken these groups on the nature tour it was the first time she'd actually seen a bear on the tour. As lucky as mommy said I was to actually see two bears on our trip, I was equally as excited to carry around a fuzzy caterpillar I had found. I'm easy to please!

Sequoia National Park

We just finished a week long road trip to some very memorable places in California. Our first main attraction was Sequoia National Park. On our way into the park we saw a bear grazing in a lush green field. It was quite amazing and a great way to start our day.

Although you may get an idea of the enormous size of these trees, it's difficult to even get a picture with the entire tree. Some of the pictures show 'normal' trees just to the side of the Sequoia's for some perspective but the images don't do them justice!
