Seaport Village

Grandma sent me some pictures we took yesterday. You can see that I wasn't too excited by the ducks, but was much more interested in playing with a brochure map of the area.

Just Us Three

Our house is back to me, mommy and Max. Grandma had to go home today and we're so sad. Before we dropped her at the airport, we played at the Seaport Village and had lunch at a restaurant over the water in the harbor. It was a great way to end our fun week together.

Balboa Park

Us girls went to Balboa Park today. We went to the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' exhibit at the Natural History Museum. I loved cuddling and relaxing with my Camel. We're still exploring names for my new friend. It was really awesome but I wasn't the most quiet patron. We did receive a few glances by guards and others. All in all I did pretty well for a 9 month old.

Then we walked through the Botanical Garden, Japanese Garden and enjoyed all the Spanish-inspired architecture. Today was quite a cultural extravaganza!

Grandma's Here

We picked up grandma on Thursday and have been having a lot of fun visiting. We have gone shopping and mommy has been able to get a lot of things done around the house without my interruptions.

One great thing is being able to get some pictures with mommy since she's usually behind the camera. Mommy has put my LeapFrog up so I can strengthen my legs. I'm doing pretty good but definitely need her support.

Spring Cleaning

... just a few months late. I was a great help in the closet sorting through and taste-testing mommy's shoes!

Zwieback Toast

Who knew that when the doctor suggested Zwieback toast as a first finger food I would be in for such a treat. This stuff literally melts in your mouth and seems to get everywhere. Tonight we even found a couple of pieces in my diaper! Mommy decided it will be my treat right before bathtime.

Sitting in Crib

Mommy's not quite sure how I'm doing it but I have found a way to sit up in my crib. It's a mystery because I choose not to do it anywhere else. My trick is the rails on my crib for leverage and a little help from Stanley, my favorite flat teddybear.

I'll have to ask Pop to come back and lower my crib again. What a difference a few weeks make, seems like just yesterday I figured out how to flip over on my stomach.

Nine Months Old

I had my 9 month well baby check-up today. They tell me I am 19lbs 5ozs (50th percentile) and 29 inches (90th percentile). I'm still quite long compared to my weight, the doctors call me long and lean. I've gotten the a-ok for proteins and finger foods so we took a trip to the commissary after my appointment to stock up on all sorts of new goodies.

One of my new found enjoyments is scrunching up my nose and breathing in and out really fast. This is especially fun when I have a mouth filled with rice cereal!

Two Months to Go

We have now passed the five month mark of this deployment. We are all so ready for this to be over and get our family back together. Daddy is doing well and was able to call us this morning. Although the calls are short we are always so grateful to hear his voice.

Mornings are filled with all sorts of play on the floor. Max isn't really supposed to be on the blanket with me but is always pressing his luck by inching in from the sides or corners. Mommy says that when I start crawling he will be on the opposite side of the house!

My Spatula

One thing I love, above all other toys, is my mini-spatula. I can twirl it, tap other toys, mommy and Max with it, twist it around in my mouth and chew on it with my new tooth. Not too much more fun than all of that!

We heard from daddy yesterday and he says it's cooling down a little bit, low 100's. Although it's still very hot he says the difference between this and 125 is quite significant. As Gram said, none of us in the states should complain about our 'hot' days.

First Tooth

For those of you who have not been to my home.... my bedroom is at the end of the hallway and mommy has a straight shot view of my crib without getting too close. Since I am now a bit more mobile in my crib I turn myself completely around, get on my tummy and peek over the bumper. I'm trying to catch mommy's eye so she won't make me take such a long nap. I think she's on to me!

I cut my very first tooth overnight on Saturday. Sunday morning mommy noticed just a little white nub on the bottom of my mouth. This may explain why I was so grouchy at the beach the day before. She was very excited and can't wait to see more make their way through.

Love Posing

Thought I'd show off one of my pretty summer dresses that comes with a cute bandana that matches. What fun for a little girl! I always get compliments from the ladies in the nursery, they especially enjoyed this one.

I have a new trick this week... I help mommy turn the pages while she reads books to me. I get a little anxious to do my job but mommy's teaching me that we need to actually finish reading what's on the page before we go to the next.
