Bathing Beauty

I've had a big day today. 1st LAR set up another video teleconference for us so we were able to talk with and see daddy. He's doing well and looked so good. We talked with him for about 15 minutes, the delay makes it difficult at times but it's all worthwhile to see him.

I was so excited about catching up with daddy that I didn't take a nap until we got home around 2:00. After a long rest we spent a few minutes in the sun trying out my new bathing suit. Mommy says that we'll have to get a kiddie pool for these warm summer days. It may be a bit tough splashing around with Max.

Sippy Cup

I can't say I know exactly what I'm doing with the sippy cup but I'm giving it a try. Mommy tried to make it work with formula yesterday but I wasn't being too cooperative. Today she tried just some water and I have taken a couple of sips.

We had library storytime today. What fun to listen to Miss Annie read us books, sing together, clap our hands and play with new toys and kids. There are some daddy's in the group so I'll have to bring my daddy with me when he gets home.

Good Friends

We've had a busy couple of days visiting with friends. We met up with Liz and Jaxson for lunch Friday. We did some shopping at the outlet mall. Jaxson had fun playing in the fountain but mommy said I was still a little too small to play in the water. He just turned two so he was big enough to play.

Today, we went to celebrate with Richard at his two year old birthday party. Mommy caught up with some friends that she and daddy met way back in 29Palms. We saw Clark, Mindy and baby Everett, Erika, Mac and Clay. They all asked how daddy's doing and told us to tell him they were thinking of him.

It's nice that the Marine Corps is relatively small, that way we cross paths with great friends like these from time to time.

Sharing with Max

I had to tell Max all about our fun time at the library yesterday. I met a couple of kids and played with lots of new toys. Mommy had fun too. I think we'll try to make it every Wednesday. Max was very patient while I shared all my news.

We had a big day in the family today. Cousin Lauren turned 18 today. We were so happy to talk with her, it sounds like she had a great day with her friends. She is coming at the end of July and we can't wait to see her!

Happy Father's Day and 7 Months Old

What a special day. In church the pastor read what some kids said to the statement, 'I have the greatest dad in the world because he...'. This made me (and mommy) think. The way I would finish... he is caring, sweet, loving, a provider, honorable, strong, a good friend, trustworthy, selfless, gentle, handsome, honest and he loves mommy, me, Max and the rest of his family with all of his heart. Mommy says, not surprisingly, these are things she appreciates in daddy because these were the things she has always seen in Grandpa Boven. Happy Father's Day to all those dads out there!

I also am 7 months old today. I have now mastered rolling over. As you may know, this has been a long time coming and much anticipated by my doctors. I really only roll in one direction so mommy has to make sure there aren't any obstructions I might hit. The best part is when I'm placed on my tummy, which I am not fond of, I can quickly flip myself over.

Making Cookies

Since we will be going to visit Grandma and Grandpa soon, mommy thought she would show me how to make Boven chocolate chip cookies. I tried to be helpful but ended up just putting everything in my mouth. I was particularly fond of the the measuring cups and spoons. They make a lot of noice which is always fun.

We went for an early morning walk. The weather here is getting quite warm in the afternoon and Max doesn't do too well with the sun and heat. The marine layer and cool breeze in the morning is just perfect for him. Plus, I get to bundle up in 'winter' clothes that I can't otherwise wear. It's a win-win!

A Good Day

Look what came in the mail! Mommy received the final birth certificate from Arizona with her and daddy's name on it. It's all official. Nice to see that all the paperwork is on file listing them as my parents... which they are and always have been.

I also enjoyed some time today sucking my toes. Not too much more enjoyable than that for a little girl.

Daylilies

Another day in paradise, enjoying the new blooms on the Daylilies.

Play Day

Mommy and I went to a play group on base today. There were a couple of other babies whose daddy's are deployed. It's nice to be around people who are going through it too. I thought it was fun to play with all my toys at home but had a blast today. There was a little boy who was trying to grab my binky and pull my hair but mommy protected me!

While we were gone Max had a good time playing in the backyard. As you can see by his picture, he's such a happy boy. You can actually see him smiling. We love him so much!

Sunny Sunday

For those of us dealing with the annual event of June Gloom, we really enjoy each and every sunny day. What has made it even more sunny was hearing from daddy. We had not heard anything for over a week so were thrilled to talk with him.

Mommy and I are having a relaxing day. We went to church this morning, came home for some brunch and headed out to the gym. I only gave mommy 15 minutes. Just like last time we had to cut the visit short. We may just have to be persitent, eventually I'll warm up to the idea.
